With only one ingredient, this is the easiest naivedyam (offering) one could prepare on a festival day. Vadapappu is prepared on the eve of Sri Rama Navami festival along with paanakam and chalimidi. Preparing vadapappu involves no cooking. No spices, no oil and not even salt or sugar.

Just soak the half cup moong dal for 1 hour and drain. Vadapappu is ready to offer to God and for consuming.

After offering to Gods, I usually prepare kosambari with the vadapappu, the recipe of which will be posted soon. I serve it with a pinch of salt or a teaspoon of sugar for my kid and she like it a lot.
