Cucumber Raita

Raita (perugu pachadi) is made with yogurt (curd). Raita can be eaten as salad and are usually served along with biryani, fried rice and pulao (pilaf). Raita can be made with most vegetables like onions, cucumber, carrots or leafy vegetables. I’ve already posted my version of onion raita. Today I am posting cucumber raita, a very healthy salad and good for cooling our system.

Cucumber Raita


Yogurt: 2 cups

Cucumber: 1.5 cup finely chopped pieces

Green Chilli: 1-2; finely chopped (Optional)

Water: as required (Optional)

Salt : to taste

Coriander leaves : 1 tablespoon finely chopped leaves


1. Beat yogurt until there are no lumps. Add finely chopped cucumber, green chillis, coriander leaves and salt. You can add water to get required consistency.

2. Refrigerate for 30 minutes. Serve with any flavored rice of your choice.
